Litho Printing

There are a lot of different levels of litho print quality.

Lithographic printing remains the benchmark for quality when you need consistent, accurate colour across a run. Whether you’re printing packaging for a retail product or marketing materials that need to look genuinely impressive, litho delivers results that digital simply can’t match at volume.

At Remous, we run a Komori HUV SRA1 litho press — a large-format, high-specification machine that gives us the sheet size, colour range and finishing capability to handle demanding work in-house, from start to finish.

The Press

Our Komori runs five colours plus an inline coater, which means we can print CMYK plus a spot colour — a brand colour, a metallic, or a varnish — all in a single pass through the press.

The HUV curing system is worth knowing about. Unlike conventional litho, HUV ink cures instantly under UV light as the sheet leaves the press. That means no spray powder, no overnight drying, and no waiting — sheets can go straight into the next process, whether that’s cutting, creasing, laminating or foiling. It also produces a particularly vivid, sharp result straight off the press.

Sheet size up to SRA1 gives us the capacity to print large formats or gang multiple items efficiently — useful for keeping costs sensible on shorter runs.

Hi-Lite — A Finish Like No Other

Hi-Lite is a specialist effect finish we’ve developed in-house, using the fifth unit and coater on our Komori press.

The process creates a reticulation effect but alos gives a SPOT UV Type finish thanks to our unique process— the coating draws back and contracts as it cures, producing a distinctive surface texture that catches light and adds real tactile quality to a printed piece. It’s hard to describe fully in words; it’s one of those finishes you need to hold in your hand to appreciate.

Hi-Lite works particularly well on packaging, book covers, and any product where you want the print to feel as good as it looks. It can be applied to the whole sheet or selectively, and it combines well with foiling or embossing for a genuinely premium result.

If you’d like a sample, just ask — we’re happy to send one out.

What We Print

Litho at Remous is used across two main areas of our work:

  • Retail packaging — boxes, cartons and sleeves for product brands, where colour accuracy and finish quality matter
  • Commercial and marketing print — prospectuses, brochures, letterheads and corporate print for businesses and schools

If you’re not sure whether litho is the right process for your job, we’ll tell you straight — and if something else suits you better, we’ll say so.
