We were kindly invited to give an insight into business strategy and development to A Level Business Studies students at the Gryphon Academy in Sherborne this week.
We have always had a close connection with local education and always believe it is an investment in our future community and of course economy to help students better understand business, or more specifically the marketing and print industry.
Lots of preparation culminated in Director Alan Bunter speaking for nearly 2 hours (!) on the subject of business strategy. The questions section at the end provided a great insight into the minds of today’s generation – which proved very positive and engaged in what they are studying. Explaining how we believe as a company – Print is making a comeback and trading punches with the likes of Apple iPads, Amazon Kindles and more to deliver tangible print quality that electronic devices simply can’t.
These A Level students grasped this concept, which was hitherto alien to them – Pre internet – that digital, litho and wide format print can offer something tangible, that sense of quality which electronic media can’t. BUT it does form a part of the complete marketing strategy of any business.
After discussing company goals and strategy, we offered our roadmap of how we intend to achieve those goals so these students they were able to question the resources used to do so against our competition, reassuring indeed they were straight onto how we can fulfil those needs.
Print is a very challenging market but by offering a complete in house print service we are able to rationalise and reduce a clients need to shop around for different marketing related services – when it is all provided under one roof print becomes more than that – it becomes design, print, warehouse, stock control, distribution, mailing, warehousing and more.
After a lot of serious subjects, we decided to comply with the modern trends and take a selfie with all of the Students present! Very enjoyable indeed to give something back and help our next generation of business people..
