Whilst Covid has seen created terrible challenges for many businesses across the country (we can all agree it has been a tough two years!) – There have been some positives and for us the Kickstart Scheme got us engaged with our local job centre; and through that we found two new team members who have been able to learn about our industry and earn at the same time. These are candidates we probably wouldn’t have found in more ‘normal’ times, the Kickstart campaign engaged us with both our local job placement team and new ways of recruiting.
We welcomed Nicola as our first addition to the team involved in both warehouse and print finishing, but more importantly getting that opportunity to get into the workplace and learn a trade and life skills that accompany that process.
Since Nicola started back in November, she has gone on to learn how to operate several of the machines and now begins a new journey by getting back to education through an apprenticeship in Lean Manufacturing in Print something we are proud to support and certain she will excel at!
During times of hardship, it is easy to forget how fortunate you may be, as a business or as a person. Things we all take for granted, such as education and opportunity aren’t universal.
The Kickstart scheme introduced us to a new way of growing our team, which can be challenging but at the same time very much a fulfilling and rewarding way to build a great team, seeing people achieve the potential they didn’t realise they had.
